A mass shooting early Saturday in Maryland, left six people wounded, including two children, according to local authorities.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said in a statement on X that patrol officers responded to an “unknown disturbance” at about 4:40 a.m. in the suburban community of Hanover outside Baltimore, where they found a large crowd actively dispersing and a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.

EMS took the man to a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

However, the scope of the violence quickly expanded off-scene.

Throughout the morning, detectives were notified by three different area hospitals that several walk-in victims had arrived seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

According to police, the five additional walk-in victims included: a woman with a gunshot wound to an extremity; two boys with lower extremity injuries; and a man and woman both suffering from lower extremity injuries.

Authorities confirmed all victims are being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

“Detectives are conducting interviews with the victims to determine what occurred during this event,” the department said. “This investigation is active and further details will be released once the investigation concludes.”

It is unclear if any arrests have been made, as of Saturday afternoon.

Hanover is roughly located 15 miles south of downtown Baltimore and roughly 30 miles northeast of Washington, D.C.
